Mental Maths & Abacus Program
A structured, four-level program that takes children from their first encounter with the abacus frame all the way to fast, confident mental calculation. Each level blends hands-on abacus technique with visualization, oral arithmetic, and engaging activities.
Level 1: Abacus Foundations & Number Concepts
Focus: Understanding numbers and introduction to the abacus frame
Learning Objectives
- Number recognition and counting up to 100
- Understand place value (units and tens)
- Familiarization with abacus structure and terminology (beads, rods, upper/lower beads, value placement)
- Holding posture and bead movement technique
- Simple 1-digit addition and subtraction using the abacus
- Develop focus and left-to-right visual tracking
